The Sacred Damson Grove

Origins & Craftsmanship

Every bottle begins with carefully selected fruit sourced from Serbia’s renowned orchards, where generations of knowledge and traditional cultivation methods shape the foundation of authentic rakija.

Rakija is deeply connected to the land and the people who produce it. The quality of the fruit, the climate, and the harvesting process all play an essential role in creating a spirit with rich aroma, character, and balance.

At House of Slivovitz, craftsmanship and authenticity remain at the centre of every bottle. Rather than relying on shortcuts or artificial enhancements, the focus stays on tradition, patience, and the natural quality of the ingredients.

The fruit is harvested at peak ripeness to preserve its natural sweetness and full flavour profile. From there, it undergoes a traditional fermentation and double-distillation process in copper stills, a method that has been respected across the Balkans for generations.

Each expression reflects the heritage of Balkan distilling culture: honest, refined, and made to be shared.

Controlled Intensity

Our copper pot stills are over a century old, maintained by a lineage of coppersmiths who understand the resonance of the metal. Heat is managed not by digital dials, but by the watchful eye of the master distiller.

Process

The Art of Rakija Making

01

Careful Fermentation

Fresh, ripe fruit is gently processed and naturally fermented to develop rich aromas and a full-bodied flavour profile while preserving the essence of the fruit.

02

Double Distillation

The rakija is double-distilled in copper stills: a traditional method that creates clarity, balance, and smoothness while enhancing the fruit’s natural character.

03

Oak Maturation

Selected rakija varieties are aged in oak barrels to develop additional depth, warmth, and complexity, resulting in a smooth finish and refined taste.
